Antigua and Barbuda Passport Renewal: A Step-by-Step Guide for Citizens by Investment
A practical walkthrough of the Antigua and Barbuda passport renewal process — timelines, document requirements, and how PassPro handles it on your behalf.
Antigua and Barbuda passports issued through the Citizenship by Investment programme are valid for five years from the date of issue. At renewal, the passport may be extended for a further ten years at no additional government fee — provided the applicant has spent at least five days physically in Antigua and Barbuda during the initial five-year period and has completed the Oath of Allegiance on arrival.
This is the practical walkthrough.
What you need
- The original passport that is being renewed
- Two recent passport-sized photographs that meet ICAO standards
- A completed and signed renewal application
- Proof of the five-day visit to Antigua and Barbuda (immigration stamps in your passport, or boarding-pass records)
- Confirmation of the Oath of Allegiance having been administered
PassPro handles all of the above on your behalf, including coordinating the in-country visit if you have not yet completed it.
The five-day requirement
The five-day residency requirement for renewal exists to maintain a meaningful tie between the citizen and the country. The days do not need to be consecutive. They can be combined with a holiday visit, a business trip, or a deliberate stand-alone visit to satisfy the requirement.
If you have not yet completed the five days as your renewal date approaches, the right move is to plan the visit early — both to satisfy the requirement and to give you the opportunity to spend time on the island while you are there.
The Oath of Allegiance
The Oath is administered by an authorised officer in Antigua and Barbuda. PassPro coordinates the appointment, accompanies you if useful, and obtains the certified confirmation that goes into your renewal file.
Typical timeline
The renewal itself, once the file is complete and submitted, takes approximately 15 days to process. Planning around your travel needs — particularly if you have international trips on your calendar — is part of the advisory work we do.
Cost
The standard renewal at the ten-year extension carries no additional government fee where the five-day requirement has been met. PassPro charges a defined advisory fee for handling the process on your behalf, disclosed in writing in our engagement letter. Variable government costs (apostille, courier, photograph) are passed through at cost.
When to start the process
Begin the renewal process at least two months before your existing passport expires. This gives comfortable margin for the in-country visit, the document attestation, and the processing time itself. International travel during the renewal window is possible — we simply manage the timing so you are not without a passport at any point.
