Adding New Dependants to Your Dominica Citizenship by Investment Application

How to add a newborn, a spouse, a dependent child, or a qualifying parent or sibling to an existing Dominica CBI grant — the rules, the timeline, and what PassPro handles.

One of the defining features of the Commonwealth of Dominica’s Citizenship by Investment programme is the breadth of family inclusion it permits — both at original application and in additions after the citizenship has been granted. For PassPro clients who have already obtained Dominica citizenship and now wish to add a family member, this is the practical guide.

Who can be added post-grant

  • A newborn child of an existing citizen
  • A spouse married after the original grant
  • A dependent child (up to age 30) acquired after the original grant — including through adoption
  • A dependent parent (typically aged 55 or older, or otherwise economically dependent)
  • A qualifying sibling under the specific conditions defined by the CBI unit

Each category has its own documentation requirements and government fees. PassPro handles the assessment of eligibility before any commitment is made.

What documentation is required

The exact set varies by relationship, but typically includes:

  • The applicant’s original Dominica passport and certificate of naturalisation
  • The new family member’s birth certificate, marriage certificate, or relevant relationship document, attested by the issuing country’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs
  • A valid government-issued identification for the new family member
  • Police clearance from the new family member’s country of citizenship and any country of residence over six months in the past ten years
  • Source-of-funds documentation where the additional government fee is being paid

Typical timeline

The Dominica CBI Unit processes most family additions within three months of submission of a complete file. Some categories (a newborn whose birth certificate is straightforward, for example) can be faster. Categories with longer documentation chains (such as a dependent parent requiring source-of-funds evidence) may run slightly longer.

What PassPro handles

PassPro manages the full process end to end:

  1. Eligibility assessment — confirming the family member meets the programme’s published criteria before any commitment
  2. Document gathering — coordinating attestations, certifications, and translations through trusted in-country agents
  3. Form preparation — completing and verifying the addition application
  4. Government liaison — submitting through the authorised channel and responding to any due-diligence enquiries
  5. Issuance — receiving the new passport, certificate, and any related documents

You do not need to travel to Dominica for most family additions. We coordinate around your existing commitments.

What it costs

The fee structure for family additions is set by the Commonwealth of Dominica’s CBI unit and varies by family-member category and the original investment route. PassPro’s advisory fee for handling the addition is disclosed in writing in our engagement letter. Variable government costs (apostille, courier, photography) are passed through at cost.

Why timing matters

Family additions become more straightforward when undertaken early in the new family member’s life — particularly for newborns, where the addition can typically be completed before the child’s first international travel. For spouses, the addition can be initiated at any point after the marriage.
